Call Of Duty Games No Matter Where You Go There Is Always Something To Do
Is there something wrong with Call of Duty games? Not a whole lot. But for me its the incredibly quick time it takes to finish the story line in MW 3. If you think about MW 3 is very expensive compared to the game play, which can be done it around 14 hours.
Skyrim, for example is really an FPS game when you biol it down, combined of course with RPG, but you will play many more hours, around 200 of them on just the main story line.
And because of its Creation engine, which has a very advanced AI that gives randomness like real life to NPCs, and its free roaming capability, you will have thousands of hours of game-play waiting for you.
Plus, no matter where you go, there is always something to do in Skyrim, which has nothing to do with the story line.
I have the feeling that Call of Duty games are getting shorter and shorter. I think the phenomenal success of the Modern Warfare series has pushed the developers to think more about money than the player. How much different MW 3 is from MW 2? Not much.
The makers of Skyrim have put out a truly innovative game building upon its predecessor: Oblivion. This was not done for Modern Warfare 3, why? I’ll tell you why
First off there are two kinds of games. Islands games and Alley games are the categories. Call of Duty games are alley games. Game boundaries are usually right beside you in alley games creating sometimes a claustrophobic sense.
Boundaries are not immediately perceptible in Island games, and are often referred to as sandbox games, popular for RPGs. It might take you all day to walk to one.
So what am I getting at here? Its just an idea, but what if FPS games were created like Island games? This would give the player a lot more play time. It is obvious that multi-player and survival mode, is were the hours of play time can be found in Call of Duty.
Making an FPS like this would give the player the power to determine the way the game will evolve. Maybe you could call it a cross-genre RPS. Expanding the boundaries would be great, and it doesn't have to be RPG, but you would be able to build on your combat skills.
Don’t get me wrong. I know that alley style games heighten the drama of the game play, and I love MW 2 and 3. FPS alley style is fun. I just think it is time to start thinking outside the box for once, before we have to fork out another 70 dollars.
Since the combat is still FPS, I like to play Skyrim. I would suggest you do get the Call of Duty games, and make sure you get Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and 3. They are a lot of fun
